It's here / Nyt on JOULU

   Niin se koitti sitt viimeinkin jouluaatto. Onhan tätä jo odotettukin! Kaikki se aika ja energia jonka olen laittanut tähän päivään valmistautumiseen voisi antaa oletuksen että olen valmis. Mutta .. enpä olekaan. Eileen sain paketoitua ne lahjat jotka toimitin eilen illalla. Nyt kello on jo yli 10 aattoaamuna ja vielä on tän päivän paketit paketoimatta. Varsinainen tonttu-tohelo täällä !  Kyllä tässä vielä ennättää.. Vajaan parin tunnin kuluttua pitäisi olla jo naapurikunnassa, auto pakattuna päivän rientoihin. Feisbuukista olen seurannut että kinkku on paistettu ja äsköön vielä varmistin että kutsu on voimassa. Tiedä häntä jos oon vaikka näin viimemetreillä suututtanut emännän ja kutsu on peruttu. Soitin ja kummityttöni vastasi puhelimeen. Lievällä valas-murteella (ref. Nemoa etsimässä) vaihdoimme pikaiset kuulumiset ja sitt pääsin asianomaisen kanssa keskustelemaan. Olin lähettänyt feisbuukissa ”perhepyynnön” ja hää sen dellas ..  Noh, oli kutsu vielä sentään voimassa J

  Alkuviikosta keskustelin Rotari-kokouksessamme Irlantilaisen kanssa ja hän kertoi omista jouluperinteistään, ajalta vielä kun oli kotimaassaan. Siellä tämä 24.pvä on ihan tavallinen arki. Kuudelta käydään pubissa yhdellä, mennään kotiin ja tullaan kymmeneltä ehtoolla takasi pubiin ja juhlitaan urakalla. Aamuyön tunteina sitt pukin kanssa samaa matkaa kotiudutaan. Kuullosta hiukan erilaiselta ko meillä. Klo 12 julistetaan joulurauha ja sitt alkaa RAUHA. Ollaan oman perheen kesken, yritetään olla riitelemättä (huom. yritetään) ja toivotaan että pinna ei pala .. samoin ko että laatikot ei pala uuniin J

  Jos meillä aikuisilla on ”vaikeeta”, niin mietippä lapsia. Ovat tsempanneet jo viikkokausia ollakseen kilttejä ja näin varmistaakseen että pukki tuo lahjoja. Sitt joutuu odottamaan vaikk kuinka kauan pukin tulemista. Tai tuleeko edes pukki? Voihan se olla että tontut tuovat lahjat eteiseen ja matka jatkuu. Ja mitä sitten tuovatkaan? Onko toivelista mennyt perille ajoissa? Nuo toivelistat ovat välillä ihan hyödyllisiä, mutta sitten kun lista sisältää koko lelukatalogin, niin ainoa hyöty listasta on että lapsi on saanut harjoitusta kirjoituksessa.

  Tänne etelä-suomeen pukin on paree yrittää olla tulematta porolla, ell’ei se poro sitt lennä. Meillä ei ole lunta maassa lainkaan. Eilen aamulla oli vielä paksu routakerros puissa, mutta sade vei senkin. Ny on harmaata ja märkää. Ei se mitään !  Mieli on korkealla ja eiku paketoimaan ja reisuun.

   Finally it’s Christmas! YES!! Considering all the time and energy I’ve put into preparing for this day, one could think that everything is ready, but .. no no. It is 10 am and I haven’t yet wrapped the gifts to be handed-out today.  But hey, there is still time. In about an hour I need to be on my way, with everything packed into my car for today. Got to remember the Playstation game console I promised to take with me. My goddaughter wants to play the “monkey mania”. The good part is that I don’t have to pretend to loose to her. She is better than I am. I just have to try not to get upset for the repeated loosing …  Boy, it may be a difficult evening for me ..   I had to check that the invitation for tonight was still on, as in FB the host of the evening declined my “family invite”. But the response was still positive.  

  The 9-10 year olds are smart, soo smart. I don’t know how it happened, but every now and then when I speak with my goddaughters that are at that age, we end up speaking in whale-dialect (ref. finding Nemo). I’m not sure at all that “the others” understand why we sometimes speak like that ..

  Earlier this week I spoke in our Rotary meeting with an Irish woman, and she told about the Christmas traditions “back home”.  Today, the 24^th is a “regular day” and they go to the pub in the afternoons “for one” and then go home. Around 10pm they return to the pub and party all night and return home in the early hours of Christmas, at the same time with Santa. This is quite different that how we celebrate Christmas. Today at noon the Christmas peace is declared and then it becames PEACEFUL. We stay with our families and try our best not to quarrel. It’s pretty hard also for the kids who have been trying their best for weeks to be on their good behavior, to ensure that they get presents. And today they have to wait for hours for Santa to come, if he comes. It may also be that he or his helpers just drop the presents in front of the front door and continue their merry way. And that is not the only stressing point today. Did the letter to Santa get there in time? Sometimes these letters by the way are a good source of hints, but if the letter is just a copy of all the things in the toy-catalogue ..  the only benefit of it is that the kid got some exercise in writing.

   When Santa comes to southern-Finland, he better have the flying reindeers. We have no snow or frost. Yesterday we still had a thick frost in trees and on the ground, but the rain has .. melted it all. Now it gray and wet ..  But it’s not effecting the mood. Spirits are HIGH, so I better wrap the last presents J
