Six days to Christmas / Tuleeko tytär jouluna ..

  Joulukalenterissa enää kuusi luukkua jäljellä = aattoon on vain vajaa viikko!

Tsissus !  Vois luulla että kaikk on jo valmiina, mutta mitä vielä. Noh, hyvin suunniteltu on puoliksi tehty, joten jotain sentään ..  J 

  Minun oma jouluni on valmisteltu nopsaan. Siivooja tulee torstaina, pyykättävää ei ole. Kotona joulupöydässäni tulee olemaan kaupasta ostetut maksa-, porkkana- ja perunalaatikot, herneitä, kinkkurulla, maksapasteijaa, myslileipä ja itse tekemäni mac&cheese. Jälkkäriksi itse paistettui torttui ja lapsilta saatuja pipareita. Glögiä pitää varata ja siihen tietty rusinat & mantelit.

Pukki toivottavasti tuo tarvittavat makeiset. Eiköhän tuossa ole tarpeeksi !

  Siskon luonani odotan saavani riisipuuron lounaaksi, siis aattona. Sitä siinä samalla nautitaan kun kuunnellaan & katsotaan joulurauhan-julistusta Suomen Turusta.  Varsinaiselle jouluaaton aterialle menen kummityttöni mummin luokse. Kummityttöni äiteineen on tietty kans siellä.

Sama osoite oli viimekin jouluna, eli taas naisvoimin otamma pukin vastaan J

  Kaukana on minun joulustani päiväkausia keittiössä käkkimistä vaativat valmistelut, mutta ymmärrän että monelle vanhemmalle henkilölle tuo ”käkkiminen” on se mikä vähitellen tuo joulun taloon. Kun on ikänsä tehnyt laatikot, paistanut kinkun ja lipeäkalan, tuntuu joulu vaillinaiselta ilman sitä. Toivottavasti tarinat mummoista, jotka valmistavat jouluruokia kotona siinä toivossa että tytär perheineen tulisi käymään, alkavat olla historiaa. Ihan puistattaa edes ajatella että lapset eivät saa kerrottua vanheneville vanhemmilleen että eivät tule jouluksi. Taas peräänkuullutan sitä avointa kommunikointia.

  Meillä ei mummo odota lapsiaan jouluna käymään, tämä on tehty selväksi jo .. monta vuotta sitten. Viime jouluna järjestin ”ryhmäpuhelun” (anteeksi, en tiedä oikeaa termiä) ja olimma kaikin samalla linjalla Perintötilalle. Oli siinä muorilla ja papalla ihmettelemistä. Nuorempi veljeni oli Helsingissä, vanhempi veljeni vastasi puhelimeen tallilla. Siskoni ja siskontyttöni olivat saman pöydän ääressä kanssani. Mutsi, siis tuo muori, ei meinannut uskoa että olimme kaikki linjoilla. Epäili minun nauhoittaneen muiden puheita ja soittavan nauhoitusta. Jess, taidan huijata aika paljon .. Mutta fixuna, ääs Junttonen originaali kysyi säätä. Tiesi että en ole voinut varautua moiseen nauhoituksessani. Yritin kyllä kertoa että töissä istun päivät pitkät tällaisissa ”ryhmäpuheluissa”. 

No, olimmepa kaikki läsnä tuvassa aattona.  Mitähän sitä tänä jouluna keksis ..

  Hyvää neljättä adventtia !

  OMG, there are only 6 days to Christmas (eve) ! One could think that I have everything ready, but dream on!  Well, we have a phrase “Well planned is half done”, so at least something is ready ..  J

  My own christmas preparations are completed quickly. I have the cleaning lady coming on Thursday to clean the house, there is no huge pile of undone laundry. In my own Christmas table I’ll have ready made liver-, carrot- and sweet potato casseroles, peas, small ham, liver paté, granola-bread and the self-made mac & cheese. As a dessert I’ll have self-made Christmas pastries and gingerbread cookies. Mulled wine and raisins & almonds. I hope Santa brings the “needed” sweets. I think that should be enough, wouldn’t you agree?

  At my sister’s house I expect to get rice-porridge for lunch, on Dec 24th I mean. When eating the porridge, we will be following the declaration of Christmas peace from the city of Turku, Finland. For the actual Christmas dinner I’ll drive to my goddaughter’s grandma’s house. Of course my goddaughter and her mom will be there as well. The same address as last Christmas, so again we’ll be welcoming Santa with “girl power” J

   My Christmas preparations are far from spending hours in the kitchen, but I can relate to those to whom these hours are the only way to bring Christmas into the house. For those who have been preparing the casseroles herself for decades, baking the ham for hours the night before, to not to do them would make Christmas uncomplete.  I sincerely hope that the stories of grannies, making all the preparations for Christmas with the hope that the daughter with her family would come for a visit, are history. Chills go through my spine when even thinking about that children are unable to tell their parents in time, that they are not coming. Again I’m promoting open communication.

  In my family the grandma is not expecting her grandchildren for a visit on Christmas. This was made clear ..  years ago. Last chirstmas I set-up a conference call with my siblings, and so we were all in the call with mom&dad. To them it felt unbelievable. My younger brother was in Helsinki and the older took the call from the stables. My sister and my nieces were around the same table. My mom (the grandma) thought I was pulling her leg and had recorded the speech of the others  (I guess I do play a lot of pranks on her), so as a smart cookie (being the original S.Junttonen) she came up with a weather related question (knowing that I could not have anticipated that).  I have been explaining to her that this kind of conference calls are where I spend most of my working hours.  So there we were, all their kids in their living room on Christmas.

   I’m still trying to come up with something for this Christmas ..
